Contract Core Logging Geologist
Position:
Contract Core Logging Geologists, starting in November-December, 2013 or January, 2014.
Job Description:
As a team player, core logging geologists will perform core depth correction/description and facies & sample selection on oil sands core. They also prepare and QC reports.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities and essential job functions of the core-logging geologist include, but are not limited to:
- Core depth correction to match to well logs and bore hole images
- Facies and lithology selection according to clients' facies charts
- Sample selection for lab analyses
- Describing core with detailed and accurate information utilizing core logging software
- Preparing final report and core photos for clients
- QC core depth, facies, sample depths, and other information about the core and samples
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Certificate or Degree in geology, geophysics, or related field
- Sound knowledge of sedimentary geology, well logs and bore-hole images
- Good understanding of sedimentological description and interpretation, mainly clastic
- Good knowledge of computer and office software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Be able to work in fast-paced environments
- Experience in Athabasca Oil Sands is an asset
- Candidates must be qualified to work in Canada

Practical Oilsands Core Logging Workshop offered by the company on October 24 - 25, 2013. If qualifications are similar, workshop students will be hired first. Workshop fees will be reimbursed for workshop students who are hired by us.
