Tarcore Water Laboratory is equipped to analyze cations and anions of any fluid samples. We also have procedures established specifically for analyzing Soluble Ions in oil sands samples.
Soluble Ions
The oil sands ore is first combined with boiling de-ionized water. The produced slurry is filtered with the use of a mud press. A portion of the filtrate is analyzed for pH and Electrical Conductivity. The remaining filtrate is analyzed for cations (sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, etc.) by an Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP - OES) and the anions (chloride, sulphate, etc.) measured by Ion Chromotagraphy.
